Voted “Best Sleepover Upstate” in Delaware Today’s 2008 Best of Delaware Awards, DMNH overnights offer special evening activities and tours before groups put on their pajamas, roll out their sleeping bags, and snooze near the dinosaurs, cheetahs, or giant clam. The slumber party starts with family-friendly activities like flashlight scavenger hunts, live animal encounters, storytelling, night hikes, and take-home crafts. Families have free time to tour the exhibits and spend time in the hands-on Discovery Room. The evening quiets down with a special nature movie in the DuPont Auditorium. Families decide where to sleep in the Museum’s galleries once the lights go out: either the Dinosaur Hall, African Watering Hole, or Shell Gallery. An evening snack and light breakfast are provided to keep adventurers’ energy up. Our next Community Overnight is on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Children must be ages 5 through 12, and the cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. Online registration has ended. For more information please call Lauren Vitelli at 302-658-9111, ext. 328. |
