YOUNG EXPLORERS
Kids love coming to the Museum's Young Explorers! At these weekly classes, young children use their senses to discover the natural world while making new friends and having fun. The Young Explorers series includes three programs: Tiny Trekkers (ages 2-3), Natural Wonders (ages 4-5), and Junior Naturalists (ages 6-7). We also offer Silly Science Saturdays throughout the year for kids ages 4 through 10.

Tiny Trekkers Tiny Trekkers is a five-week program focusing on broad scientific themes for 2- and 3-year-olds and their parents/caregivers. In each class children enjoy circle time, hands-on centers, music and movement, and story time based on nature themes. The five themes for the spring session are: What is an Insect?; From Seed to Plant; Buzzing Bees; Fruits and Vegetables; and From Spring to Summer.
Families may choose hour-long classes on Mondays or Wednesdays at either 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. [UPDATE 4/7/10: Monday at 9:30 a.m. is only session still available]
Monday classes: April 12 - May 10, 2010. Wednesday classes: April 14 - May 12, 2010.
Natural Wonders Natural Wonders introduces 4- and 5-year-olds to science through hands-on learning. Children conduct experiments, explore the galleries, and hike outside while learning about basic science concepts. Each hour-long class includes a craft to help reinforce the lesson.
Topics for the spring session are: Water Wonders; Music in Nature; Green Eggs in the Sand; Seed Suitcases; and Natural Explorers.
This five-week program is a great way to add science to your kindergartener’s schedule. Families may choose classes on Tuesdays or Thursdays at either10 a.m. or 1 p.m. [UPDATE 4/7/10: Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 1 p.m. are the only sessions still available]
Tuesday classes: April 13 - May 11, 2010. Thursday classes: April 15 - May 13, 2010.
Parents/caregivers are asked to stay with their children. Siblings are welcome to stay with the parent/caregiver.
Junior Naturalists Junior Naturalists is a five-week program designed for 6- and 7-year-olds. children explore topics through hands-on activities and a craft. Each weekly, hour-long class is a new adventure in the natural world. Children conduct experiments, explore the galleries, and hike outside to reinforce basic science concepts.
Topics for the spring session are: The Water Cycle; Nature's Rhythm; Horseshoe Crabs and Shorebirds; Fruit or Veg; and Discoveries in Nature.
Saturday classes: April 17 - May 15 at 1 p.m.
Parents are requested to remain in the Museum building until the end of the Junior Naturalists class.
YOUNG EXPLORERS: Fees and Registration Cost: $50 for members, $75 for non-members.
Early member registration: Sustaining members may register starting March 15. Household members may register starting March 17.

Silly Science Saturdays Special workshops for children ages 4 through 10 are held throughout the year on a variety of fun and wacky science topics.
Get Ready for Summer! Summer is right around the corner. Get ready by learning how to make homemade bubbles, a tide-pool viewer to use at the beach, and everyone's favorite treat: ice cream!
Date: Saturday, May 22, 2010 Time: 1 p.m. Cost: Members: $8 per child. Non-members: $10 per child.
