Just a note: if you are planning on attending, please reserve your tickets online by Thursday afternoon! There’s been a lot of interest and a definite possibility we will sell out. We want to make sure we have enough supplies on hand, too!
Sticks and stones may break your bones, and it turns out plants can hurt you! Share food, cocktails, and conversation with Amy Stewart, bestselling author of the Girl Waits with Gun and The Drunken Botanist, as we discuss her New York Times best-selling book, Wicked Plants: The Weed that Killed Lincoln’s Mother & Other Botanical Atrocities, which inspired our newest traveling exhibit.
At our intimate venue, you will meet the author and hear more about her inspiration for Wicked Plants, sample handcrafted vermouth in a demonstration from Philadelphia’s Bloomsday Café, and mingle with botanically-focused local organizations.
In addition to the main Wicked Plants exhibit, DMNH is featuring related exhibits by local artists and organizations. Artist Hattie Weselyk’s exhibit, Wicked Talent, includes sculpture and jewelry inspired by the Wicked Plants book. Meet the artist and learn how she created stunning art based on some of the world’s most diabolical botanicals.
Light refreshments will be available for purchase (including beer & wine). Please join us and our fellow partners at our upcoming wicked event!
