Giving Tree and Live Animal Update
Live animals are an important part of educating visitors about nature and natural history. While the animals are an important part of the Nature Nook as well as educational and outreach programs, they have also been part of wedding receptions and other activities at the Museum. Holly the Russian Tortoise,
pictured here, is the newest addition, joining DMNH in January. To expand the collection as well as build new, more interactive habitats for the animals, our Giving Tree fund was launched in December to raise funds and awareness, including incentives for donors such as animal art and behind the scenes tours. Thanks to many generous donors, including a matching grant, $2,400 has been raised to date.
