Project Description

Local artist explores bird collection through woodcarving

Connecting our scientific collections with art, woodcarver Reggie Meserve has borrowed bird study skins for more than a decade to create beautiful, lifelike carvings. Pictured here with Director of Collections Jean Woods, Meserve is holding a carved version of a female Blue-winged Teal (Anas discors) held by Dr. Woods. On the right, a Belted Kingfisher (Ceryle alcyon) study skin and carving.
