Planned Giving

By supporting the Delaware Museum of Natural History, your love of nature, education, and conservation can be expressed beyond your lifetime. Plan a gift to the Museum, and you help us inspire future scientists and naturalists, as every donation goes towards igniting curiosity about the natural world for generations to come.

Creative and Flexible Strategies
Planned gifts offer creative and flexible strategies for your estate and charitable needs. Whether you want to put your donation to work
today or benefit us after your lifetime, there are many opportunities to ensure that your goals will be fulfilled. Likewise, you can designate
your contribution to support a specific aspect of the Museum that is dear to your heart.

Nautilus Society
The Delaware Museum of Natural History (DMNH) established the Nautilus Society to honor the generosity of individuals who have made provisions in their wills or other estate plans to benefit the Museum. These individuals are committed to the long-term success of the Museum. When you plan a gift, you join other like-minded individuals enrolled in the Nautilus Society.

Benefits of the Nautilus Society
• Invitations to exclusive events
• Receive Discovery magazine
• Exclusive discounts and offers
• Opportunity for a behind the scenes tour of the Museum

Become a Partner in DMNH’s Future

  • Wills or Trusts
This is the easiest way to make a significant impact. You can name DMNH as a beneficiary of your will or trust. Consider including a percentage or fixed amount bequest. Following is sample text for a Will or Trust designation.
I bequeath __________ (dollar amount or % of estate) to the Delaware Museum of Natural History, a not-for-profit organization located
at 4840 Kennett Pike, PO Box 3937 Wilmington, DE 19807, for its ongoing conservation and education purposes (or for a designated program you choose). Tax ID #51-0083535
  • Retirement Accounts and IRAs
Consider adding DMNH as the first, second or final beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k) or other retirement account. This is an easy way to protect the future of the natural world.
  • Life Insurance
This is a wonderful gift that can reduce taxes that may otherwise be due upon your death. You can name DMNH as a beneficiary or co-beneficiary by amending an existing policy or even purchasing a new policy.
  • Certificates of Deposits or Bank Accounts
Certificates of deposits, savings accounts, or other savings plans can pass immediately to DMNH as a Payable on Death (POD) beneficiary of the account.
  • Securities
Gifts of stocks, bonds and shares of a mutual fund can make a much larger gift than planned.
  • Real Estate
A gift of your property can make a great gift. Talk with your real estate professional or attorney.
  • Charitable Gift Annuity, Charitable Remainder Trust and Charitable Lead Trust
You may choose to establish a trust which allows you or other defined beneficiaries to retain income for life with assets of the trust accruing to DMNH.

We are here for you, so please give us a call today to discuss the many possibilities in making your legacy happen.
