Join us for a three-part virtual series followed by an evening in-person outdoor viewing event exploring the night sky, fulfilling Cub Scout and Girl Scout requirements along the way! Part 1 takes us to the moon as we approach October’s end-of-the-month Blue Moon. Discovering the Moon’s surface as well as its relationship with Earth will have you seeing the moon in a whole new light. Part 2 launches us from our star, the Sun, out into the countless stars and constellations of our Milky Way Galaxy and beyond. Part 3 brings us back to our own Solar System, gaining the tools to identify and explore the variety of objects that share our Solar System neighborhood. This Virtual Series culminates with an on-site, outdoor sky viewing event during the Geminids Meteor Shower! Join us for all four dates, or pick the dates that most interest you. If you’re a Girl Scout Brownie or  Junior, attending all four events meets all requirements needed to earn your Space Science Adventurer or Space Science Investigator Badges.

Cost per event: $7/Scout for DMNH Members $9/Scout for Non-members

Cost for the entire series package: $23 for DMNH Members, $30 for Non-members.

Registration closes at 3:30 p.m. on the event day. Required paperwork will be sent out upon registration and must be submitted to receive the Zoom link.

Part 3: Getting to know our Neighbors in the Solar System
Thursday, December 10, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

An all-scout virtual event focusing on planets and other solar system bodies. There are so many other objects that call our Solar System home. We’ll take a tour of the planets and get to know some of the other smaller solar system bodies that make our solar system unique. This event falls during the Geminids Meteor Shower, just before its peak on the 13th and the new moon! A perfect time to explore planets, asteroids, comets, and more!
